“Right” by The Weekend Forecast - Official Music Video (2010)
Benji Schwimmer, winner of So You Think You Can Dance? Season 2, was great to work with during the course of this video that I produced, directed, filmed and edited. We filmed it on a shoestring budget at Saltair in Utah during a two-day period in April. The band drove from L.A. and I drove from Seattle, and we were plagued/blessed with blizzards, hail, fierce winds and bitter cold. When you see Benji’s jacket blowing in the wind, it’s not a fan, it’s 70 mph wind.
“Soothsayer” by Victor Shade/RA Scion of Common Market - Official Music Video (2010)
It has been very exciting to work with the top artists of the Seattle Hip Hop scene during the production of this music video. The Flying Sneakers Crew of break dancers provided some excellent dance footage, and RA Scion’s narrative vision of this film provided for very rewarding collaboration. I produced, directed, filmed and edited the video. More production details, including full credits, are available on my blog.
If you want to see more breakdance footage, check out my footage of the top bboys on the West Coast as recorded at Claws Out II (Seattle) on May 22, 2010.
Nurse Gave Me Fever (2008)
I wrote, directed, filmed, co-choreographed and edited this little short film because there's basically no good ballroom dancing in film anymore, and I wanted to show the Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers appeal to a contemporary audience. It was a developmental short film for me, and I learned a lot through the process. Though the final result isn't up to par yet, this effort is indicative of the type of feature films I am planning to someday make. Thankfully, response to this short has been overwhelmingly strong, and it has far surpassed any of my other work in terms of positive feedback, encouragement and discussion. I believe that a hole currently exists in the film market for dance and musicals, and I want to fill it.
Love Is A Dance (2007)
An earlier effort to make a dance film, this movie was thrown together in two weeks with more of an emphasis on dance choreography than screenplay. Here is a scene in the club, dancing Cha Cha.
Another scene, featuring a Rumba choreographed by Brian Burtenshaw, Alissa Williams and Trevor Gibb.
